...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM...
.KEY MESSAGES...
Updated at 222 AM CDT Tue Apr 8 2025
- Dry conditions with near average temperatures likely this
week.
- Breezy south winds this afternoon through Wednesday ahead of a
weak front. Max gusts 20-30 mph.

.SHORT TERM...
(Today)
Issued at 222 AM CDT Tue Apr 8 2025
Despite another chilly start, pleasant conditions are expected today
with high temps climbing into the upper 60s/ lower 70s under sunny
skies. Pressure gradients tighten some as the next disturbance moves
off the Rockies and into the C Plains this afternoon. This will
promote breezy S-SW winds today, especially for locations along and
west of hwy 75 with gusts up to 15-25 mph.
&&
.LONG TERM...
(Tonight through Monday)
Issued at 222 AM CDT Tue Apr 8 2025
Breezy south-southwest winds persist areawide tonight into Wednesday
ahead of a weak frontal boundary with gusts up to 30 mph. Otherwise,
quiet weather is expected to persist for the remainder of the
forecast period as E CONUS troughing/ W CONUS ridging pattern
amplifies. A shortwave embedded in the flow digs into the midwestern
states Thursday, dragging a cold front through the area during the
day. While precip chances are not zero with this feature, better
forcing will be placed to our east and this is likely to be a dry
frontal passage for our CWA. High pressure fills in behind the
front on Friday before return flow develops over the weekend.
This brings breezy south winds back into the forecast Saturday and
Sunday, gusting to 30 mph. The next storm system makes its way
into the plains early next week, with at least low potential for
rain/storms returning to the FA.
Following Thursday`s front, high temperatures decrease slightly for
Friday (60s and lower 70s), but quickly rebound into the 70s and
lower 80s over the weekend and into next week. Low temps will remain
in the 40s and 50s. In stark contrast to last week, plentiful
sunshine is generally expected over the next several days, despite
some increase in cloud cover expected Wednesday night/ Thursday
associated with the FROPA.
